Direct Purchase Program

With grant funds and monetary donations, we buy fresh vegetables, meat, eggs, and dairy directly from local farmers. Through this program, we emphasize purchasing food from emerging BIPOC and women-owned farms and deliver to our hunger relief partners personally.

TCFJ has purchased fresh meat and produce from farmers in over nine counties in the Twin Cities area. The Direct Purchase Program increases access to locally produced food and also gives TCFJ the opportunity to provide our hunger relief partners with access to foods they may not typically receive. For example, a 2024 grant helped us to purchase wild rice and bison meat from Native Wise, a farm in Fond du Lac, Minnesota, that was delivered to Indigenous hunger relief partners across the state.

There is so much room for this program to expand, and we look forward to continuing to support Minnesota’s farmers and to providing our partners with fresh, locally sourced produce.
